WARWICK SEASON OPENER VERSUS NOTTINGHAM
7/10/07
Nottingham @ Warwick 10/10/07 - 2pm
Warwick Men's Lacrosse open their season this wednesday at home where they will take on Nottingham University. The game marks the first for new captain James Aris, and the first for Warwick since their 06/07 season ender 12-9 victory against Birmingham Bulls.
In the same match up last season Warwick ran out 14-9 winners with Mark Curran leading the offensive line with a standout 7 point game (5,2). James Aris also featured highly with a 4 point game (4,0). Tom Riddlestone was superb in goal recording 14 saves (0.609).
This season Nottingham will once again prove to be a tough test, and Warwick will look to open strongly to begin their title campaign in what is always a very highly contended fixture.
Warwick retain their 3rd and 4th highest point scorers from last season, Duncan Trenholme (19,17) and James Aris (25,5), but lose their top two point scorers Mark Curran (40,11) and Neal Roadley (28,16) to graduation. Tom Riddlestone lines up for his 3rd consecutive season in goal and will look to improve on his 57.6% save percentage from last season. The midfield line retains 4 key starters, Seb Croft, Aaron Fox, Alex Twiss and Mike North from last season. The defence loses senior leader Dom Fletcher although Jon Treacy and Tommy Hamill will step up as the units leaders.
Make sure you catch all the action this wednesday!
