WARWICK RETURN TO WINNING FORM WITH 29-0 HOME VICTORY
13/10/07
Warwick 2 @ 20 Liverpool 13/10/07 - 2pm
Warwick Men's Lacrosse seconds team took to the field for their first friendly of the new season against a Liverpool side boasting a much stronger and more experienced lineup. Warwick took a squad comprising 4 fresh players, 3 players with 1 term’s experience, and 7 players of less than one year to play the Salou Fest runners up in what was an exciting game combining some nice play, physical hits and some less stylish lacrosse!
Standout performances from the second side included Abakar Saidov and Philip Beverly who are edging on a first team place after their confident displays. It was however the lack of formation and team play on defence that cost the side, along with an inability to convert on man-up possessions. Matt Fowler, Jaime Powel and Phil Dawson were included as freshers to lacrosse (2 weeks experience) and showed much potential for the future, while stand-in keeper Will (also 2 weeks experience) made some great saves but was often left 1 on 1 with an attackmen, making his life hard!
Simon Robinson (1,0) and Himesh Patel (1,0) were the two scorers for Warwick, although Robinson could have had another when he charged from a face-off towards goal and squeezed off a shot that was saved by Warwick's own keeper Will...er uh oh!
Warwick 2nds will next be in action against Birmingham on the 20/10/07.
